Thousands of rabbits like these babies are bred every year to satisfy the vivisection industry. Their lives will have none of the joys that God created for them to have. Humans have condemned them to a life of pain and suffering.
Alternatives include:
*Taking human tissue samples and testing the drugs on them in a test tube.
*Carrying out experiments using computer models and programmes.
*Looking at large numbers of statistics.
Animal researchers say that it will be impossible to stop all animal tests.
*But most scientists accept that it is extremely important to minimise the suffering of laboratory animals, and to use as few animals as possible.
British law says that any new drug used for medicine, must be tested on at least two different types of live mammal. One of these must be a large non-rodent type animal.
Every year, millions of animals die and suffer to test the safety of many different household products. Ranging from eyeshadow and hand soap to furniture polish and oven cleaners.
